Steven

For Steven, football is more than just a sport — it’s a family tradition. He has been playing for six years, inspired by his relatives who all played before him. “My whole family has played, so I try to fill that role,” he said. Carrying on that legacy motivates him to work hard both on and off the field, always aiming to represent his family with pride and dedication.

As a right tackle and defensive end, Steven takes his preparation seriously. He focuses on staying healthy by eating properly and drinking plenty of water before games. “No big games yet — I’m waiting for playoffs,” he said with determination. Balancing school and football can be challenging, but Steven manages it by attending study hall before practice to maintain a 2.5 GPA. His discipline shows his commitment to both academics and athletics.

One of Steven’s favorite memories came when he won his first varsity game against Orange Cove, 42–40. “It was a close game, and that win meant a lot to me and my team,” he recalled. When the pressure rises, Steven stays calm and confident. “I don’t let the pressure get to me because in my eyes, no one in our division could compete with us when we’re fully healthy and play all four quarters of football,” he said.

Looking ahead, Steven hopes to earn a playoff win and a football scholarship. “I just need to send out my transcripts,” he said with focus. His advice to his younger self is simple but meaningful: “Trust the process and don’t quit.” To future players, he adds, “Have confidence and trust your coach and the techniques you’re taught.” With his determination, family pride, and love for the game, Steven continues to chase his goals and build a legacy of his own.
