CWA Supereros reporting to Read Across America.
Last week, the greatest celebration of literacy was celebrated; everyone contributed to make an impact on the little ones. The National Education Association (NEA) created the Read Across America Day in 1998. They chose March 2 to honor Dr. Seuss’ birthday and his impact on children’s first books.
Something to keep in mind is that March is National Reading Month, and schools highlight the impact that reading has on children. Parlier Elementary schools come together to teach and share the pleasure of reading with the little ones. During the whole week, the students had guests who read to them in their classrooms. They were so enthusiastic about reading. They were mostly surprised when they found out some of their guests were the Superheros with the duty of reading to them.
In fact, CWA superheroes were presented in every school to take part in the responsibility of teaching kids the pleasure of reading. Kids were excited, and even though some of them were trying to reveal the superheroes’ deepest secrets, it was such a fantastic experience for them to remember and for us to repeat. The Superheroes Have Feelings, Too! was the book chosen to make kids feel reflected and able to relate with their favorite superheroes.
The icing of the cake took place on Friday in the annual Character parade of Brletic Elementary school. The superheroes were present too! And they were on spot with a class that did their characterization of superheroes. It was such a fun experience, everyone showed their creativity and reading passion. The reading is not just something that you acquire in silence, but it can be shared and expressed aloud in places like the Character Parade, in classrooms, or at your little cozy place beside your family.
