America Martinez

America Martinez, a junior here at Parlier High School who is in her second year of being a cheerleader. America grew up in Parlier California, and she’s always loved to dance and perform. That’s what made her want to join the cheer team. Now, she gets to do what she loves while supporting her school. Her favorite part of being a cheerleader is performing at Friday night games and seeing how excited the crowd gets. It’s those fun exciting moments that make all the practices worth it.

Balancing cheer, school, and personal life isn’t always easy, but America makes it work. She manages her time and gives each one of them the attention it needs. She stays motivated by thinking about her goals and remembering that younger girls look up to her. One of her best cheer memories is making the varsity team, something she worked really hard for.

When it comes to performing in front of big crowds, America says she stays calm by staying confident and focusing on her routines. She reminds herself that most people are there to have fun and enjoy the show. As in her future, America has big plans. After high school, she wants to go to a four-year university, then to nursing school to become a NICU nurse or a labor and delivery nurse.

In ten years, she sees herself working as a nurse, being married, and being a mom. To anyone interested in joining cheer, America says “Be confident, stay positive, and always believe in yourself.” America is a great cheerleader who has worked really hard to get where she is in life, she proves what it takes to be a PHS cheerleader!
