For the Queens, Autumn Bell, Kamila Barajas, Natalie Rodriguez, Chelsea Canelo, Lizette Gallegos and Jenny Garcia. Prince’s, Allen Torres and Andrew Gonzales. And lastly, the Princesses, Liliana Gayosso and Audrina Garcia. The pick for this year was definitely going to be tough. Everyone was ready to compete and do anything it took. You could see their determination during the challenges they were given everyday for the past week!

Homecoming week has begun!

9/25

To start off our homecoming week, the theme was Disney Day. As the class theme for Freshmen: Wreck it Ralph, Sophomores: Coco, Juniors: UP and last but not least Seniors: Toy Story. Monday was definitely a fun way to start off the week. For day 2 of HOCO, the theme was Teen Beach Movie Day: Bikers vs Surfers. Day 3 the theme was Disney Duos day, where everyone dressed up as an iconic disney couple/friendship. Day 4 as, Baby/Senior Citizen Day: Dress up as a baby or Senior citizens. And for the last day, (Day 5), NEON DAY!

9/25– For Monday’s challenge, the candidates had to listen to one second of a song and then guess what Disney song the movie is from. The winners for the King and Queen were Anthony Ramirez and Autumn Bell. The winners for Prince and Princess were Audrina Garcia and Andrew Gonzales.

9/26 – For Tuesday’s challenge, competitors were blindfolded and given a whiteboard and whiteboard marker. The goal was to draw Disney’s iconic mickey mouse logo. This challenge was quite difficult and whoever had the best drawing of said logo won. The winners for Kings and Queens were  Kevin Ramirez and Autumn Bell. The winners for Prince and Princess were Allen Torres and Liliana Gayosso.

9/27– For Wednesday’s challenge, competitors had to put your hands behind your back and eat an ice cream sundae with no utensils. The goal was to finish the sundae so that you could see the bottom of the bowl to see the mickey mouse logo. The winners of this messy challenge for King and Queen were Juan Pablo and Autumn Bell. The winners for Prince and Princess were Allen Torres and Liliana Gayosso.

9/28– Thursday’s challenge was quite an interesting one. Competitors had to put a blindfold on and spin around 5 times and then go find their partner. Once they found them, they had to sit on their lap and then they could take your blindfold off. The partner then had to bottle feed them apple juice. The first one to finish their juice was the winner. The winners for this challenge were a very close call, almost a tie. The winners for King and Queen were Anthony Ramirez and Natalie Rodriguez. The winners for Prince and Princess were Allen Torres and Audrina Garcia.

This week of challenges was quite eventful. Everyone tried their best and had fun while doing so. Whether they won or not they stayed good sports throughout the whole time. They stayed positive and had a great time, but, It was not over yet, because they still had to crown the King and Queen and Prince and Princess, and vote for who had the best float.

!HOCO DAY!

Homecoming day had everyone cheering and yelling in excitement. The candidates were introduced to the field in their floats from the parade. They were nervous but still having fun and ready for their crowns. The winners for King, Queen, Prince and Princess were announced during halftime at the homecoming game. Crowning King, Queen, Prince and Princess this year was last year’s princess Alesha Garza, and last year’s King John Mata.  As the nicely dressed candidates walked down with each other and took their places, the photographers shot some nice photos. Everyone looks so nervous to discover if they were voted for or not. They have been using different methods to get votes all week from making posters to interrogating their friends to vote for them. (No one was harmed.) Tonight will determine whether or not their hard work and determination paid off.

This is the moment everyone has been preparing themselves for for the past week. The first winner announced was the Princess. The Princess for Homecoming September 29th 2023 was Liliana Gayosso. For Prince Hoco 2023, Allan Torres. The Queen for Homecoming, the announcement we’ve all been waiting for, The Queen for Homecoming, 2023, Autumn Bell. The winner for Homecoming King, Obed Garcia. Everyone was so relieved to finally know who had won. The candidates who did not win weren’t upset. They were just happy for the winners and that the pressure was finally off their backs. Everyone congratulated Liliana, Allan, Autumn and Obed for winning. Everyone hugged and made their way off the field for the closing of halftime. Halftime was finished with a performance from Parlier High school’s marching band and color guard, led by drum major Dayana Guerrero. And then the Parlier cheerleaders. And finally with the announcement stating whose float had won. The Juniors had won the float competition with their theme: UP.

That brings an end to HOCO week, the most fun yet nerve wrecking week of a high schooler’s life.
