It’s that time of year again when students transition from their school years to becoming productive members of society. For the Class of 2024, this journey has been 13 years in the making, with a significant portion of it spent in elementary school. In our Parlier Unified School District, we offer four elementary schools: S. Ben Benavides, John C. Martinez, Cesar E Chavez, and Matthew J. Brletic. These elementary schools have played a pivotal role in shaping our students to the young adults that they are.
On the morning of Monday, June 3, 2024, the graduating seniors embarked on a nostalgic visit to their former elementary schools. This visit was more than just a walk through the halls; it was an opportunity for the Class of 2024 to inspire the hearts and minds of the next generation of students. Our PHS Seniors revisited the places where their educational journeys began, reconnecting with their former teachers and reliving the memories that have shaped them into who they are today.
The atmosphere at each elementary school was charged with emotion. Seniors took photos with their old teachers and walked through crowds of current students from grades K-6th, filling the younger students with hope for their futures and bringing tears to many eyes. During their walk, the seniors were greeted with pictures of their former selves from their 6th-grade year, adding another layer of sentiment to the experience.
As emotions ran high, the Class of 2024 shed a few more tears during their final walk through the elementary school offices, many parents and staff members watching along, the heartfelt moment symbolizing the end of their time as Parlier Unified School District students. They then boarded the bus for one last trip back to the high school, where they will graduate later this week on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
This heartfelt visit was a fitting way for the seniors to close one chapter of their lives and prepare to begin another, carrying with them the lessons and memories from their formative years in Parlier’s primary schools.
