PHS Spotlight Ms. Rostykus

Hello Panthers! As some of you may know, we have some new additions to our team this year. Many great teachers were added to our staff and among the new recruits is the one and only, Ms. Rostykus!
Ms. Rostykus grew up in Sanger, California. One of her favorite childhood memories is watching The X-Files. She wasn’t always allowed to watch The X-Files, and so in the middle of the night, she would sit in the hallway and watch when her mom was playing it on the tv. She would sometimes make a game of it and sneak behind the couch to see if her mom would notice. Ms. Rostykus considers The X-Files her comfort show.
Ms. Rostykus is a night person and used to stay up til 3 A.M. regularly. She loves playing video games and writing/ performing her music. She plays both the guitar and piano. If Ms. Rostykus could spend a day with anyone in the world, she would spend it with the actress that played Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher. Ms. Rostykus chose her because she would love to spend all day listening to Carrie’s crazy stories.
Ms. Rostykus attended Fresno State. She chose to teach art because she had many bad experiences with some of her art teachers in middle/ high school. She wanted to give her students a better experience than she had. A piece of advice she would give her younger self is don’t procrastinate and to take advantage of any opportunities that come your way. She missed out on things because she made up excuses and found reasons not to do things, so remember to make the best of every day Panthers!
