Spring Fling Rally/Spring Fling Event
On April 21, Parlier High School set up one of the best rally that we had this entire year. Ms. Carillo welcomed all the students and explained what the rally was all about. We had all several fun games against each grade and teacher even participated. It first began with “who had the most school spirit” and ended with the class of 2023 winning by a landslide. Next, the round up candidates were introduced which were Annelies Rocha, Biatriz Cabrera, Sandra Filorio, Dulce Huerta, and many more, we wish the best luck to all these ladies! The boy cheerleaders were also introduced and performed for the whole school to show off their dance moves. It was such an amazing moment and no one will ever forget because they amazed everyone, especially the teachers. They will be performing again at the Powder Puff game on April 27, 2023.
The moment we all have been waiting for, the games that we competed with the teachers and other grades. It was the students vs. the teacher for the dodgeball game. The teachers kept dropping like flies against the students! By the end the teachers last hope at redemption was left to Mr. Hatley the last teacher standing. Sadly, since Mr. Hatley was the last teacher standing , he was no match for the five remaining students; It was only a matter of time before Mr. Hatley fell along with his peers. The students ended up winning. After the game Mr. Cardenas ( the third one to get knocked out) had this to say “We were the last three players: Mr. Freitas, Mr. Hatley, and I. When I went to throw the ball, the sweat dripped into my eyes and all of my shots were not going to the targets, the balls must have been deflated or something…Right before I got out, I tried to catch the ball that hit me but I didn’t have my glasses on, so I misjudged the distance. Remember, I’m an English teacher not a Geometry teacher, which is why unfortunately, I got out.” It seems like Mr. Cardenas should have read up more on Dodgeball and maybe he would have been able to actually DODGE the ball!
Next up was the tug o’ war, it was the Freshman vs the Sophomores first. The Freshmans ended up winning against the Sophomores but was a tough match to win against. Finally, the match we waited for was the Seniors vs the Juniors. It was a really tough game for the Seniors since the Juniors had strong people. The Juniors ended up winning and went against the Freshman. The outcome of that match was the juniors winning it all. Overall it was a great rally and will be remembered by everyone.
The spring fling was a success and a very fun event put together by Ms.Carillo. After the rally, students started forming lines to get their food. I would say they could’ve had more vendors so the lines wouldn’t be so long and packed. I had a fun time selling chips and cheese with Jacky Cervantes. We were selling chips and cheese to fundraise for the senior class. It was a very hot day and it would’ve been a great opportunity for vendors who sell drinks to be out there. The spring fling had bounce houses but they didn’t get used much. Overall, the spring fling could’ve been better if they had a lot of vendors and fun activities like a mechanic bull or outdoor games.
