ASB Secretary Cassandra Ochoa

We firstly want to thank Cassandra Ochoa for giving us the opportunity to interview her, and get to know more about her and the things she does as ASB Secretary. We first asked her why she decided to run for her current position.

“I decided to run for ASB secretary first of all, because I had held this position last year, and secondly because I want to be involved with the school culture, have a say in the activities, and the events that will be going around on campus this year.”

In addition to that, we got to ask her about some of the responsibilities and overall work that goes into being the ASB secretary, “It’s my job to go over and write down what is said at our ASB meetings, I go over our forums, and what we choose to approve.”

Overall, she expressed that she really likes being a part of the ASB council, and sees it as amazing opportunity.

“I enjoy being secretary, because I’m able to be a part of a such an important group, and have my say in the things that go on around the school; an opportunity I wouldn’t be able to have if I wasn’t part of ASB.”

We also wanted to get to know her a little better on a personal level so we asked a few life pertaining questions such as what some of her goals are this year.

“My goals overall this year are to help and improve the environment of the school, make it more comfortable for everyone, and ensure that the seniors have an amazing last year of high school.”

She also let us in on some of the stuff she’s hoping to accomplish including going into post grad out of high school.

“I plan to attend Reedley College for about 2 years, then hopefully transfer to a 4 year university to finish off the rest of my education in pursuing a medical career and applying for the Future Nurses Program.”

Given her love and appreciation for the Medical Pathway as a whole, it’s no surprise her favorite class this semester is CNA.

“My favorite class I’m taking this year is definitely CNA, it’s helped me to see what profession I want to pursue in the future.”

We personally found Cassandra to be quite the impressive individual and it is obvious why people chose to vote for her as secretary this year, “I think people voted for me because of my personality maybe? I also didn’t really have any competition since I was the only one running for the position.”

Regardless, we think that whether she ran opposed or not, the outcome of her victory would have been the same, given what a well- rounded individual she is.

Once again, we want to thank Cassandra for allowing us to interview her and get to know more about her on a personal, as well as on a professional level. It was so much fun.
