ASB Treasure Ruby Alvarez

Ruby Alvarez is a member of the ASB team in Parlier High and is known for being in the Treasurer position. Her interest in ASB happened early on, during her last year of 6th grade. Her friend, who is also in ASB, made her join it for fun. She was interested in the Treasurer position because it called out to her more than the Vice President or President positions.

Ruby expressed another reason why she wanted to be a part of the PHS ASB team. Ruby had been in that position even in elementary. This meant that she had taken on, experienced, and had knowledge on what the responsibilities for this role were and she could bring that experience to the table. Ruby loves being a part of Parlier High School and ASB. However, she doesn’t just love being part of PHS, she is also dedicated to its community (the City of Parlier) and the people in it as shown through her community service.

Ruby has clear, set goals in place to continue onto higher education. After her high school experience ends, she wants to attend Cal Poly and major in Computer Science. Later, when she receives her diploma, she then wants to work in the Bay Area in the field of Software Engineering.

Some things that Ruby likes to do in her spare time is playing Minecraft with her friends, playing volleyball, and coding. One of Ruby’s favorite movies is Newsies, The Musical and The Theory of Everything. When it comes to school, Ruby’s favorite subject is Math. She likes Math, because it is something that she understands very well, “It just makes sense to me!” she said about this, confidently. 

Lastly, Ruby suggested for those who want to learn or become part of the ASB Team in the future, there are some requirements to follow and have. Those requirements are as follows:

• Good attendance
• Willingness to help with school events
• Being a positive role model to other fellow students

When you see Ruby around campus helping others, make sure to stop and give her a hand, she would do the same for you.
